When Things Don’t Fit

5.jpgI bought a new couch earlier this year and I really loved it in the beginning! I actually got an L shape sectional with dark brown leather and cream microfiber. It was just time for a new one and a change. However, the boys that delivered it sure had a difficult time getting it through one of my doorways. It just wouldn’t fit. We finally had to take apart the doorway and it was just able to make it through. When I decided to sell my house, I was just sure the couch would have to go with it. But then again….although I loved the couch when I first bought it, it wasn’t what I had originally thought it would be. I had outgrown my couch, although not physically. I sold it.

The whole experience got me to thinking about the times that things just don’t fit in our lives. We make adjustments of whatever nature and try to make things work. We try to change things to fit our new circumstances.

For most of us, when it comes to dieting, we probably began because things just didn’t fit any longer. It may have been our clothing. It may have been our body in a small airline seat. Perhaps the turning point came when we were at an amusement park and the safety bar couldn’t close on the ride we waited in line for, for at least 45 minutes. Perhaps we wanted to be able to run and play with our kids and our body didn’t fit that lifestyle. Whatever it was, something didn’t fit and we made the decision to change.

The same goes for our diet plan. Sometimes the plan we are following that worked so well in the past no longer fits for whatever reason. We outgrow it for whatever reason. It is time to make a change. It is ok to do that. We need to do what is best for us. We need to choose ourselves in the process. Look around and make an evaluation. If it no longer fits, then do something about it. It has to begin with you.
